Some scenery time

After visiting Bob's amazing layout last Tuesday, I was inspired to do some scenery work on my own layout - not that I am going to be achiving anything close to what Bob has done on his layout! so no trains were run this weekend on the layout. One thing I focused on this weekend was adding some more trees. When I went for a walk with the missus, I spotted some twigs so I thought I could use the twigs as HO Scale trees as they already look pretty good. With the cost of some HO Scale trees in the $35+ range I thought it would be better to make my own with the added benefit that they are very unique. One twig/tree I found look really interesting - it was bent to an odd shape and I thought that would look cool on the layout as it is quite unique. So I added some leaves and planted this bent tree on the layout. I think it looks pretty good
I also spotted another looking tree but when I went to plant it the trunk broke and I tried gluing it back in place but couldn't - so I thought why not just leave it as is and model it broken - I think it looks pretty cool
Futher, I have now put the backboard in place for this section of truck and was thinking what to do here as I didn't really like the look - i removed the all the old plantations here (lichen) and was wondering how to spruce this area up - I eventually moved an old tree I made some years back and planted it here - it's amazing how well this worked - they eye now gets "caught" at this area - and it has solved the problem for me! Tree and backboard:
I also worked on this area which is to the right of the scene- looks alot better than it was previously - still need to finish this area off e.g. by adding some foilage and ballast and complete the road crossing
Now here are some photos from Bob's layout (hope this inspires you)
